Claiming he never attacked the Frosts, Limbaugh mimicked Graeme Frost and attacked Dems for "exploiting" family
Summary: Discussing Graeme Frost and his family on Hannity & Colmes, Rush Limbaugh claimed, "I never once attacked this family. I attacked the Democrats for exploiting them. I attacked the Democrats for putting lies into the head of a 12-year-old -- a 12-year-old they send out before microphones and cameras to sit there and say," and mimicking Graeme's voice, continued, " 'I only want health care for the rest of American children like I got, and George Bush is against it.' The 12-year-old can't write that garbage!"

Limbaugh in that segment is "not mocking" Frost in the same way that he did not mock Michael J Fox by spasmodically waving his arms around on camera. Who should his viewers believe, Rush or their own lying eyes/ears?

Rush said he never once attacked the Frost family?
Telling his viewers that the Frost boy whined and moaned and cried to President Bush is not a personal attack on the charactor of this boy???
Isn't it an attack on the family to give listeners false information about the value of their home and schooling, and refer his listeners to "verified" information on Free Republic" Is it not an attack to help spread false rumors about the family?
Here is part of his transcript from his Oct. 8th show.
" RUSH: I had some rudimentary information on this two weeks ago, and it wasn't enough for me to trust going with. But since then, it has been verified, and most of it's been verified by a "Freeper" at Free Republic. Everybody is writing about this now, since the Freeper posted it over the weekend. This 12-year-old kid that the Democrats used in the Saturday radio address to whine and moan and cry to President Bush about the SCHIP children's health program, it turns out that the family of this kid sends its kids to "one of Baltimore's expensive private schools." This family owns a house in a neighborhood of homes valued in the $400,000 to $500,000 range. This family bought commercial property in 1999 for $160,000. [...] "

He's saying that the Democrats made the boy do this to further there own agenda. Rush is simply saying that the Dems have used this young boy to further their agenda. It's clear from past history that the Democrats like to use sympathetic figures to further their agenda. Rather than debating the actual issue they try to appeal to people's emotions by blatantly using sympathetic figures for their own political gain. It's sick what the Democrats are doing.

Okay Rhino....then Rush should be a man and go after the Democrats...not ATTACK A CHILD, who probably did one of the scariest things in his life by making a speech in front of all those people.
So you are upset the Democrats put him up to this.....Here Rush is going after the boy by saying the boy whined, moaned, and cried, and then mimics his voice.
Oh, how brave of Rush....can't take on the Democrats, so he goes after a child. Typical.

That must be why Harry Reid won't appear on Rush's show after being invited as he smears him endlessly on the Senate floor (so you can't tell me Rush isn't "worth his time") and hides behind the speech and debate clause that he enjoys as a senator, doing a job senators aren't even supposed to do. Rush is a coward for trying to engage such a pathetic person in a debate in the first place.

This has really gotten out of hand. Limbaugh never mocked or attacked this kid.
You'll note, by the way, that the media never listens to real kids when it comes to health care. Instead, they listen to kids like this one -- the phony kids.
A real kid would be proud to earn his own health coverage. Kids today know what they're getting into when they sign up for diseases and illnesses. This phony kid, though, has been used by the Democrats. They've strapped lies to his belt and sent him out to run into as many people as possible and blow himself up like some sort of propaganda bomb.
If you just stop listening to what Limbaugh actually says and pay attention to what Limbaugh says about what he says, you'll find that everything becomes much clearer.

But, may I humbly amend:
"You know, this is such a blatant use of an adorable ill child, lying to him about what I said, then colonizing those lies in his bronchioles, sending him out via the media in a radio ad to infect as many people as he can sneeze on."

"It's sick what the democrats are doing".
Maybe they should redirect an aircraft carrier at taxpayer's expense so GW can have a pilot jockey a "let's pretend the president is a fighter pilot" landing on the deck.
Maybe we should be upset about GW grounding the coast guard in New Orleans for several hours so he could get that fine photo op in a hanger with the heroes who had to wait to do their job so they could be in a picture with him.
How about all the upset we should feel whenever GW poses like a girl with real US soldiers in Iraq with a fake turkey, keeping them from what we sent them to do so GW could look good?
What's that, RINO? You ain't upset? Of course not, you only feign rage when a democrat does it.

Oh....and let's not forget little Ashley from Ohio, in 2004. As an Ohioian, I got more than my fill of it in the newspapers, radio, and TV.
Ashely praised President Bush in his campaign ad, but I guess that is okay with Rino?
Taken from USA Today article 1/15/2005:
Ashley Faulkner was the focus of Ashley's Story, a pro-Bush campaign ad that aired nearly 30,000 times in the month before the election Nov. 2.
In the Faulkner family's own words, it told how Ashley had lost her mother, Wendy, in the Sept. 11 terror attacks. When President Bush learned of this at a Lebanon, Ohio, campaign rally, he gave her a spontaneous, emotional hug. Her father snapped a photo that became the centerpiece of the ad many observers deemed the most moving of the campaign.
"He's the most powerful man in the world," Ashley said in the ad, "and all he wants to do is make sure I'm safe, that I'm OK."
The trip by Ashley, now 16, her father, Lynn, and her adult sister Loren will be paid for by Progress for America, the conservative group that aired the ad. The family leaves today to attend the swearing-in, the parade and the Patriot Ball, which is for Ohio residents.
"She thinks it's kind of neat," Lynn Faulkner said. "Obviously, this is something we've never done before. ... We're kind of thrilled."
He said he and his daughters will be a few "of a gazillion people" who will watch President Bush take the oath of office for his second term.

That kid is the "actual issue" and he's a "sympathetic figure" because he, and his parents, are right about the issue. Objecting to this kid is like objecting to the United Negro College Fund using a black kid in their commercials.

Whino translation: we should never use fellow americans to put a face on legislation unless it benefits republicans. Aircraft carrier landing at taxpayers expense? OK. Mulitple kids around when republicans sign the "no child left behind" law? OK. Coast Guard servicemen prevented from rescuing Katrina victims so a republican president who fiddled on a guitar like nero the day before can pretend to be compassionate? OK. Democrats bringing forth a 12 year old who benefited from the current program? AAAAAAAAAAGH! THE SHAME! WHY ARE THEY USING A CHILD AS A SHIELD? THE COWARDS! OH, THE COWARDS!

Exactly. Limbaugh is the one who does not want to discuss the issue. He wants to discuss the MESSENGER. The Democrats are the ones discussing the issue in these ads. It's about children's health care. Showing children actually helped by the program is directly discussing the issue.
Rush also wants to make this about the Democrats, when the fact is, many Republicans supported this bill to fund SCHIP. He seems to conveniently leave that part out of his attacks on Democrats.
Besides, conservative anti-abortionists commonly use pictures of a dead fetus whenever they want to protest abortion. How is this any different? They try to put a "human face" on that issue constantly, but God forbid the Democrats show you living children helped by SCHIP.
Like others have pointed out, Bush fills his press conferences for things like No Child Left Behind or vetoing stem cell research with children. Their party does this all the time, yet the "Rino Hunters" and Rush Limbaughs of the world conveniently ignore that fact.

I guess for me the key here is what's the real truth about this family's financial situtation? Having sold insurance I can say first hand there are PLENTY of people out there who could afford health insurance but they choose to spend their money on other things. Guess what. That drives costs up for the rest of us. A family of 4 making 82 grand can't afford health insurance? Are there adults living in the real world that actually believe that?
I don't listen to Rush. Work gets in the way but I don't see anything too aggregious in his comments.

Lucky for you, attack dogs like Michelle Malkin, hell bent on exposing the imagined hidden wealth of this family, got to the bottom of that situation and revealed that they in fact COULDN'T afford health care for their child. Surprise, surprise, the kid actually IS a real example of someone who was legitimately helped by the program.
You may not have time to listen to Rush, but you certainly allowed him and the other right-wing blowhards plant that seed of doubt in your head. Whether you listen to him or not, you took his bait.

That whole thing about "strapped those lies to his belt," etc.
Anyone who speaks out on behalf of the DemocratIC Party can't possibly be speaking their own mind, can't possibly be well informed, can't possibly be presenting their own perspective on their own story. They must, by definition, be empty vessels incapable of thought into which Democrat[ic] lies are poured, and they speak them like zombies unaware of their words' meaning or consequences.
This construction does, however, neatly excuse Rush from the task of actually addressing the CONTENT of their remarks.

Your hero worship is misplaced. Rush is your hero, not ours (forgive me for speaking for most of us non-rightwingers). We're not blinded by this bigoted, drug addicted, draft dodging, immoral, hypocritical, 3 times divorced, mysogenistic, immature, child bullying, lying, college dropout, and suspected pedophile, who is not good enough to be a bad excuse for humanity.
If you want to dance with the devil, go right ahead. I for one see the devil for what he is, a piece of garbage making a lot of money from you and others who plead to allow him to keep up the 'good work' by excusing his trangressions.
When you find a right winger worthy of your hero worship, I might take a serious look. This one is not.

Oh, the horror of socialized medicine, cradle to the grave,,,,,,,,,,for example, Germany:
"Germany's health care system provides its residents with nearly universal access to comprehensive high-quality medical care and a choice of physicians. Over 90 percent of the population receives health care through the country's statutory health care insurance program. Membership in this program is compulsory for all those earning less than a periodically revised income ceiling. Nearly all of the remainder of the population receives health care via private for-profit insurance companies. Everyone uses the same health care facilities."
Oh, no......;;;;;;;;

The UK has the world renowned National Health Service, formed in 1948. It gives us free healthcare but also allows us to use private healthcare if anyone wants to jumps waiting lists or believes they can get better service in the private sector.
There are endless debates about the NHS and value for money as demands for new drugs and treatments become available, but it is a superb service that guarantees everyone basic medical care. Dentistry is a different matter, howver, whereby virtually all dentists are private to massive disenchantment in the UK. The only problem with the NHS currently is Labour Government interference by trying to skew statistics to show how great the NHS has become under their stewardship. This means we get endless stats on how much waiting lists have fallen, which in reality means that more bureaucrats have been hired to middle manage those on the frontline and a lot of money provided to the NHS hasn't reached frontline services as it should.
Still wouldn't want any other system though and it shouldn't discourage the US from implementing a version either.

Mary, I'm not sure that Less was referring to the responses to Rino. He may be another one who's confused that a site dedicated to commenting on conservative misinformation doesn't spend enough time on other things.
Less may get just as frustrated when trying to order a burrito at the dry cleaners.

A burrito at the dry cleaners,,,,,now that's an idea for all the stressed out folk stopping in to pick up their clothes & plan dinner at the same time.
But seriously, HBL, I wish the conservatives would try to make some thoughtful points. This happens occasionally, but mostly it's name calling and inaccurate talking points which are then corrected over and over. There is a genuine need for push-pull for democracy to work properly.

That's pretty cute, Mary. Have you seen the volatile bigotry that comes from some of your peers' mouths? Referring to Limbaugh's addiction to painkillers, supposed child sex slaves, and pilonidal cyst does not a "thoughtful point" make. And for those of you making the equally "thoughtful" point that Rush has "no soul," please continue to ignore the extremely generous donation he just gave to a non-partisan military group dedicated to scholarships for the children of the troops you so readily claim to support. Don't call me a "dittohead" either; you people are all sycophants of this website if you apply that standard to everyone who supports Rush.

Perhaps that's because we can disagree with each other without attacking each other. Liberals, in the main take seriously the "marketplace of ideas" theory, and are comfortable talking about ideas. Conservatives are not. When was the last time you heard a conservative spokesman "stick to the issues" of a controversy, rather than attacking the patriotism, etc. of the opponent?
I thought the most vivid example of this was the exchange between Elizabeth Edwards and Ann Coulter on Hardball. Ms. Edwards called in to ask Ms. Coulter to stop the ad hominem attacks and "stick to the issues."
Coulter's response? "She's asking me to stop talking. NO." Only a conservative could interpret a request to avoid character assassination as an attempt to shut her up.

Actually, in the CBS poll 81% favor expanding the SCHIPs prog. Link is a PDF.

The 57% in the poll you cited oppose Bush's veto.
The consensus on this blog is that you are an idiot.

Let's try another poll. A CBS poll shows 81% support expansion of SCHIP. Beyond that, the 54% you mention is only in reference to the use of the cigarette tax. There would still likely be quite a few who support the expansion of SCHIP among those who dislike the use of the cigarette tax for funding. Your poll does not show only 54% support for SCHIP.

Oh, Rino Hunter is OODLES of fun!!
He comes up with an opinion first, and then finds whatever justification (however improbable) to back it up, and tries to "debunk" other fact-based analysis by the first thought or "refutation" that comes into his head.
I was vastly amused on a different thread when he tried to counter several stats I had cited from the World Health Organization by stating they couldn't POSSIBLY be able to estimate illegal procedures for the simple reason they were illegal. It very quickly became clear that Rino Hunter was assertively "refuting" their work although he had apparently never HEARD OF the World Health Organization!!

How well prepared are you and your family for two of your children to be seriously injured? How well prepared are you and your family for two of your children to be hospitalized for over 5 months? How well prepared are you and your family for teaching your two seriously injured children to swallow, eat sit up, talk and walk? How well prepared are you and your family to deal with your two children, one who remains weak on one side and speaks with a lisp and the other is blind in one eye, has difficulty with memory, learning and speech and needs a behavioral psychologist to help her deal with the frustrations of her disabilities?

"As a non-profit, tax deductible organization, MMFA is never supposed to engage in partisan politics. However, as soon as you begin to do a little research and see the coordinated campaigns that link HRC, Center for American Progress, MoveOn AND MMFA, it is clear that there is a violation of the tax exempt status of these organization. I have already written a letter of complaint to both the IRS, the FEC and the FCC to help launch the investigation.
By the way, a look at most of the people associated with MMFA on the Staff link shows the close association between MMFA and the Democrat Party - and HRC.
If MMFA wants to keep it's tax exempt status it better start obeying the law.

And "this is only the beginning" you said elsewhere on the thread. Yet MMFA website is still up. Or is there a storm coming they will not survive? How are those investigations going? Surely they must be keeping you in the loop. This afternoon the rest of us have to go to an emergency meeting convened by Al Gore, Hillary, and George Soros. Maybe that is what it will be about. Keep up the good work though. This is terrific comic relief. It also allowed us to negotiate higher pay scales from George. He must be very worried.

I've said it before, and it bears constant repeating:
Rightwingers HATE progressives, liberals, and Democrats MORE than Osama Bin Laden and the people who attacked us on 9/11. And EVERY TIME I'VE SAID THIS, never ONCE has a rightwinger disagreed!
The fact that slimeballs like Rush, O'Reilly, Hannity et.al NEVER talk about any need whatsoever to get Bin Laden, yet can't go 2 minutes without slimng Americans who don't share in their hysterical, reactionary political views, tells you all you need to know about the GOP and their followers.
6 years after 9/11 and no one on the right cares about getting Bin Laden. That is undeniably true! They NEVER mention him, except in political ads. They'll attack children, they'll attack 9/11 widows, they'll attack anti-war vets, they'll mock the disabled, they'll make jokes about Cindy Sheehan for losing her child pointlessly in Iraq - but never, in all their spittle-flying anger do they EVER rail against Osama Bin Laden!
And they blame some non-existent "liberal media", or Media Matters, for why the rightwing is so overwhelmingly despised by the American people. They can't fathom that it could honestly be because people despise Limbaugh, Malkin, Coulter, and Bush for WHAT THEY SAY and WHAT THEY'VE DONE. And when Bush has succeeded in pasing on his failed occupation in Iraq onto the next Democratic administration, IMMEDIATELY the quagmire will become the Democrats fault.

Limbaugh said his target was a reporter, whose name he said he would not "mention," who was writing "a cover story on me coming out of one of the big news magazines, and it was going to totally mischaracterize me and what I do and how I do it." Limbaugh continued: "[W]e found out who was writing it and made a couple phone calls to the person writing it. And we said, 'You know what? We're going to find out where your kids go to school. We're going to find out who you knocked up in high school. We're going to find out what drugs you used. We're going to find out where you go to drink and do -- we're gonna find out how you paid for your house. We're going to do -- and we're going to do exact -- and we're going to say that, you know what? Colmes wouldn't have to say anything about Rush's drug past, because it's not relevant here (although it IS damn funny!). Furthermore, Bacci40 never said that he should (Bacci40 just called Rush "druggo" for what I imagine is his own amusement).
What Bacci40 DID say is that Colmes should not have allowed Rush to LIE. That's not being "disrespectful," "impolite," or making "personal" attacks, that's requiring that information presented on one's show as factual must, in fact, BE factual.
The "attack" (if it indeed merits that word; I think not) would not be based on "personal" matters, but on substantive issues which are being discussed. If you can't challenge untrue information, you could never debate.

He disrepects those who have served and then claims just the opposite.
